Hey there, I'm Kubi, a Sydney-based artist and graphic designer. I originally hail from Prague, Czech Republic, but Sydney became my beloved home from a young age. My creative journey spans over 15 years, during which I've dabbled in various mediums, from paper and paint to graphic design and mixed media. I started out in Music PR and management roles before finding my true calling in graphic design and art. Interestingly, I'm also the founder and director of the Sydney Collage Society (SCS). This SCS was born in 2015 to push the boundaries of contemporary collage and spotlight Sydney's creative community.
My art has had the privilege of gracing galleries not just in Australia, but also internationally, with exhibitions in the United States, the U.K., and Spain. My portfolio boasts many highlights, including my debut sell-out solo show in 2015 and participation in over 20 group exhibitions since 2013. One of my proudest moments was the Sydney Collage Society group exhibition at the Regional Art Gallery of NSW in Armidale, Australia, in 2021. Other significant exhibitions include displaying my work at New York City's Chinatown Soup Gallery, 'Infinite Variation' at STACKS Projects in Sydney, 'Translations' as part of Sydney Art Month 2019, and my solo exhibition 'Bloom Tall' in 2023 at Rainbow Studios in Sydney.
Throughout my artistic journey, I've collaborated with fellow creatives like Felipe Pantone, Lillian O'Neil, Richard Vergez, and Lizzie Gill. My work has also found its way into esteemed publications such as Harper's Bazaar, InStyle Magazine, Jane Magazine, and The Age. I've had the privilege of working with Universal Music, Sony, BMG, The Voice, Sydney Design Festival, and Vivid Sydney.
In addition to my artistic pursuits, I've been teaching the art of analog collage for the last 8 years. I've crafted a concise collage course, now an integral part of UNSW's Bachelor of Design curriculum. I've also led workshops at renowned institutions like the Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW), The Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS), and the Sydney Living Museum (SLM).
